Peter Molyneux OBE
Creative Director, Lionhead Studios

Peter Molyneux is one of the best-known names in the international world of computer games. During his 18-year career, he has worked on numerous computer games that have attracted immense critical acclaim and which cumulatively have sold over 10 million copies. Peter has a huge profile in both the United States and Japan, something no other British games designer can boast.

Peter formed Lionhead Studios in 1997. It has produced many best-selling and critically acclaimed games including Black & White, which won two BAFTAs and three EMMAs. In April 2006 Lionhead Studios was sold to Microsoft Corp but Peter remains as Creative Director. Lionhead’s most recent release, Fable II, shot straight to the top of the UK All Formats chart in its first week of launch.

He was awarded an OBE in The Queen’s New Year Honours List 2005 for services to the computer video games industry. The French Government awarded him the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knighthood in the Order of Arts and Letters).

LittleBigPlanet
created by Media Molecule

Nominated by Peter Molyneux OBE: Creative Director, Lionhead Studios

LittleBigPlanet is a new game combining an amazing platform adventure with a huge social community enabling consumers to play, create and share their gaming. It uses an advanced physics system which takes full advantage of the systems power of the Playstation 3.

The world of LittleBigPlanet is unlike any other gaming environment: a handcrafted landscape made from recognisable materials, combined with pure imagination. Like all platform adventures, the game has its very own unusual hero, whom the player can customise.

“LittleBigPlanet has outstanding creative vision. It’s from a British start-up studio and is one of the defining titles on Japan’s Sony PS3.” Peter Molyneux
